SSP St. Vincent de Paul
The St. Vincent de Paul Society is a group of men and women of the parish who volunteer their time to respond to the various needs of people who live in our neighborhood; these needs include items such as food, utilities, and other basic necessities.
Our parish St. Vincent de Paul group works in conjunction with the St. Vincent de Paul Society of greater St. Louis which states its mission as follows: “We feed and clothe, shelter and transport, and heal and help. We help neighbors avoid eviction by helping to seek out sources for rental assistance. We pledge help with utility assistance. We provide vouchers for food, medicine, mattresses, and other basic supplies and discuss community resources that might help a family solve a problem or resolve a serious need. No work of charity is foreign to the Society.”
What we do: In addition to assisting those in need with utility payments etc., we also help to staff, fund and supply the ecumenical St. Trinity/St. Stephen/CCBF Food Pantry at 517 Koeln Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63116. (Google Maps) The pantry is open 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday and has been serving approximately 800 to 900 people per month. Volunteers and food items are always welcome. We work a great deal with the various St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores (which provide low cost furniture, clothing and other household items for the poor), and provide general assistance and referrals to those in need.
Events/Meetings: Meetings are held the First Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the St. Stephen Protomartyr parish rectory.
