As we approach August 1st, the message of “All Things New” will be summarized with one word and that word is change.
We have been discussing these plans for many months. Now the results of the many meetings and surveys will be put in place. Change can bring about mixed emotions of fear, frustration, and even anger. But it can also be a time of new possibilities and a brighter future.
I pray that with time all will be working for that bright, grace-filled future.
Our parishes have been a part of who we are. For many, a parish holds a faith history that goes back generations. We are all emotionally tied to our places of worship, and those memories will always be cherished. But we are now beginning a community of faith with a different structure. It is at this time that we pray together for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
I have heard of some pushback and resistance concerning some new ideas under discussion. This process is a work that will bring a new vision to our faith community. We all need to remember that this is in reality All Things New. We may have said the words but not processed the full extent of what this will actually involve in our daily faith lives.
Once again, we pray for patience and guidance from the Holy Spirit. Please keep Fr. Aaron in your prayers as he has some very hard decisions to make.
As your pastor for the last 15 years, I know the strength of this hardworking, dedicated community. I pray that this spirit will continue to lead you forward and that you will embrace the changes to come with Christian love and understanding.
