May 12, 2022Mr. Gerry Glenn is this year's recipient of the SSP PTO & SSP Parish Board of Education's "Excellence in Education" Award.
Mr. Glenn joined St. Stephen just this past fall. He teaches math to our 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, and has the 7th grade homeroom. He also offers before- and after-school tutoring to his students and co-moderates our National Junior Honor Society.
According to a few who nominated him:
"Gerry meets the kids where they are ... and helps them achieve more than they thought possible."
"He is a welcome addition to the middle school, a congenial presence, a helpful leader, a role model, with good humor, easygoing style, and strong capabilities in the classroom."
"It is obvious to me, in the way that my son speaks about his class and Mr. Glenn's leadership, that he is a calming presence in the classroom, a faithful person, and is interested in his students' lives and development."
Faculty members are nominated by anyone within the St. Stephen community; the winner receives a cash award of $500.
