Dear parents, teachers, and friends of SSP School,
Happy Friday! W hope you get a chance to enjoy this incredible weather this weekend!
We have one small correction to our lunch menu: Tuesday is now chicken rings instead of chicken nuggets.
As a school community, we embrace many concepts, clichés, and mantras during our day. Two come to mind in this next thought: it takes a village, and being a good neighbor is important. I’ve received some phone calls lately about our dismissal process. The tone of these calls has been caring, for the general welfare of each other. With that in mind, I will try to keep this brief.
It is awesome to see how many people in our school gather between the bell tower and lower lots at dismissal. I wish we could bottle that love and energy being expended. Recently a concave mirror was installed to make sure we have a safer exit off the Lower Lot. That was important due to the sheer volume of people going to and from Wilmington at drop-off and pick-up. What we can’t put up is a device to assist those who cross in the middle of the road. A good friend and colleague called me yesterday to tell me they had to hit the brakes three times between the Bell Tower Lot and Livingston due to people walking out into the road without looking. I’m calling on the villagers to watch out for each other and make sure we get to our destinations safely at the end of each school day. Thanks in advance for looking out for each other and being good neighbors!
Finally, a tip of the cap to all of our bikers who are now wearing helmets when they ride their bikes to and from school. This summer I found out “by accident” how valuable a bike helmet is in keeping us safe on the roads.
Thanks for all that you do that keeps us #SSPStrong and enjoy this glorious weather!
