Dear parents, teachers, and friends of SSP School,
On this day we celebrate Armistice Day and Veterans Day. Today is also the feast day of St. Martin of Tours, who left his post in the Roman army to become a “soldier of Christ” as a monk and later bishop. He is the patron saint of Army quartermasters (attributed to him because he shared ½ his military cloak on a freezing night to save the life of a beggar). Legend has it that this beggar was Christ in disguise. This legend tied well into today’s Gospel reading where Christ reminds us when you do for the least of my brothers (and sisters), you did this for me! I want to publicly thank all in our community who had the courage to serve this great country; to protect those rights and ensure the freedoms that we take for granted at times. Thank you for your sacrifice!
Our community came up big once again for the Operation Sunscreen collection. Numerous boxes of snacks as well as $300 cash were collected to provide care packages for deployed members of the MO National Guard. This generosity came on the heels of a successful winter coat drive and a bountiful Socktober! Thank you for all that you do for the needy in our community, being the hands and feet of Christ!
