Dear parents, staff, and friends of SSP School,
Happy Friday, and welcome to the weekend! While this week wasn’t as chock full of activities as Catholic Schools Week, it was still awesome! Congratulations to the honor band students and Bellarmine Speech teams who competed/performed last weekend. Good luck to our students competing in the SMOS Math Contest on Saturday!
This weekend we are invited to attend Mass at St. John the Baptist Parish in the spirit of getting to know our neighbors. With that said, we all received a Flocknote mid-week regarding the All Things New: Release of Second Draft Models. Confusion may have ensued; I saw vitriol posted on the Archdiocesan social media outlets. I know only a little more than you; I am trying to make sense of ATN myself. Here is my simple summary of the situation: This next phase is a reorganization of parishes, soon to be called pastorates. Archbishop Rozanski will convey the final decision on Pentecost, May 28, 2023. In some cases, parishes may merge their resources and become a new pastorate under one priest and one pastoral team.
What does this mean for SSP School? In 2023-24 we are business as usual. We plan on having the same world-class educators providing a quality Catholic education for our students. Thank you to the Finance Committee’s brainstorming with the heads of all parish organizations. They are finalizing a competent plan to keep our doors open to continue to form our children in their faith. The All Things New committee has said it will not announce any changes to Catholic schools before January 2024 if there are to be any changes. We will keep doing what we do best as long as we can. It encourages me that we will potentially have three parishes pooling their resources as one pastorate to allow this great Catholic school to continue its ministry and thrive for years to come.
That’s my take. I hope you’re on board! We still have much to accomplish in the vineyards!
