This season of Lent prepares us to be renewed in the grace of baptism as we celebrate the Lord’s death and resurrection at Easter. May God bless you in this holy time! One way you can prepare for Easter is to make a good confession. We have confessions every week before the 4pm Mass at SSP, before the 10am Mass at IHM, after the 7am Mass at SJB, and from 6pm to 8pm at IHM. We will also have extra time for confessions during stations of the Cross on Friday April 11 at 6pm at SJB, and a parish penance service at SSP at 6pm on April 8. If you’d like to pray the stations of the cross with us, you can join us each Friday in Lent at 2pm at SSP, 4pm at IHM or 6pm at SJB.
After discussion with the Liturgy Committee and prayer, I decided to have our schedule for Triduum and Easter resemble what we did last year. We’ll have Holy Thursday at 7pm at SSP, Good Friday at 7pm at SSP, Easter Vigil at 8:30pm at SSP. On Easter Sunday, we’ll have Mass at 7am at SJB, 8:30am at SSP, 9am at SJB, and 10am at IHM, like last year. Next year we’ll evaluate if this schedule makes sense again in 2026, or if we should do something different.
This weekend our candidates for baptism, confirmation, and reception into the Catholic Church go to the Cathedral to celebrate the Rite of Election. Please pray for them in the weeks ahead, and for our parish!
