Our weekend Masses were especially joyful, thanks to our student readers, musicians, and cantors. Thank you to our students, their families, and
Anne & Dave Borgmeyer for coordinating and managing the two crews!
Accordion-style prayer cards were available after both Masses. Extras are now available in the "bulletin box" on the front steps of the rectory.
Open House: Under normal circumstances, Sunday would have been our school's annual Open House. In place of this event we created a Virtual Visit "infomercial" to give a taste of life inside our school. Share with anyone you know who may be looking for a school.
In-person tours are available outside of school hours by appointment. Contact Amanda at 314-752-4700or amanda.quinn@saintstephenstl.org.
New Banner: Thank you to parishioner
Legina Agha whose business
Cheap Signs Fast has always been so generously supportive of our community. Legina was able to print our new banner, which now hangs next to our flagpole door so beautifully!
School Song: These days, we may not be able to gather all 210 of our students in one place at the same time to sing the school song, but we
can sing in different places at different times and still feel like the strong school community that we are. We learn to love and love to learn at St. Stephen School!
Monday we kicked off our personal items drive for Cardinal Ritter Senior Services, which runs through Feb. 8. We are off to an impressive start!
Tuesday was a dress-down day to raise money for the
Friends of Honduras, a community development project founded by SSP alumnus
John Hock ('64) and his wife, Marilyn. Our students have come to have a close relationship with the school in Guanacaste, and John and Marilyn regularly communicate about how our donations have helped improve living conditions and school amenities.
Wednesday we celebrated our nation. The day began with a flag ceremony led by our fifth-grade Boy Scouts and attended by their classmates, our alderwoman
Beth Murphy, and our Archdiocesan regional director of education
Kristi Mantych.
Thursday we celebrated families and vocations. All parents received donuts at morning drop-off. Kudos to
Maureen & Matt Stroer for handing out donuts in the cold rain! All students were invited to dress up as what they want to be when they grow up -- their vocation as they now discern it. Finally, each classroom had submitted a vocations-related question to
Father Ron,
Sister Diane, and
Mary Regan. The students viewed a video of their questions being answered (which ends with Father Ron fielding a bonus question from the extra-curious third grade). We are grateful for these joy-filled examples of what it means to live one's vocation!
Friday we celebrate faculty, staff, and volunteers. All classrooms watched the spelling bee finals via Google Meet. Congratulations to champion Lottie K. and runners up Jane W. and Michael L.! The week wraps up with this evening's premiere of the
8th grade play "Virtually Ever After."
