Welcome to Catholic Schools Week! On behalf of our whole community, a big thank you to the teachers, families, tithing parishioners, volunteers, and hard-working staff that give our parish the gift of SSP School! It is a joy to see our children learning who Jesus is and how much He loves them, and developing the talents, skill, and attitudes that will let them flourish in God’s unique plan for each of them. We have an open house this weekend at SSP School from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. I hope you’ll come to see the Good News in action at our school!
Here’s an update on our SSP School Strategic Plan. Since November 17, 2023, when we published the plan, many people have been at work on its implementation. A special shout out to the Board of Education, our principal Greg Sturgill, our school office administrator June Tessin, and our communication manager Stephanie Wobbe. Thanks to them, we’ve made a
Our efforts for school financial sustainability have launched. Forty-five eligible school families will receive additional scholarship grants for 2024-25 from our Msgr. Vince Bommarito Scholarship Fund, with additional total grants exceeding $30,000. Our SSP Golf Tournament and SSP Fish Fry committees have pledged their ongoing support to the Msgr. Vince Bommarito Scholarship Fund, so its future is bright. Also ready for launch in the 2024-25 school year is our Multi-Child Scholarship Program, helping our families with fewer financial resources make it through those challenging years when they have more than one child in our K-8 grades at
Our Board of Education standing committees (Marketing, Education, Finance, and Facilities) have been chartered, organized, and begun work. For example, you’ll soon see yard signs appearing in neighborhoods throughout our parish boundaries, thanks to the hard work of Abby Richter and the Marketing Committee. Would you like a sign? Click here to make your request. Ryan Hanlon and Route 3 Films have captured some beautiful images of our school, and have lots more content creations planned for us. You can help our school by liking and sharing this content when you see it on our social media.
Other parts of our plan to grow enrollment are also in motion. Registration for the 2024-25 school year will include our New Family Scholarship and Ambassador Scholarships. SSP School is a warm community. Our New Family Scholarships make it easier for new families to join our school, and our Ambassador Scholarships show our appreciation for the people who help them come here. Do you know that the Ambassador Scholarships can also be applied to Catholic high school tuition? Families whose children have all graduated from SSP School can be some of our best ambassadors!
Plans for our SSP School summer programs are going forward. We’ll pilot these programs with a Summer-Session Preschool (for children entering kindergarten or Pre-K 4) and a Summer Camp (for children entering 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade) in summer 2024. Families will be able to indicate their interest in these programs when they register for the 2024-25 school year. June Tessin ([email protected]) will be happy to give details to anyone interested. Space will be limited for this first year, so register early!
