Dear parents, teachers, and friends of SSP School,

Greetings and salutations. I don’t know if wishing you a happy Friday the 13th is proper. Friday the 13th is rare. In an average calendar year, F13 happens 1.72 times. This calendar year, F13 happened today and in January. In 2024, F13 will transpire in September and December. That useless knowledge might get your brain limbered up for the PTO Trivia Night next Saturday evening. If you haven’t signed up, you still have time! www.sspstl.org/trivia-night

The school community participated in two safety drills today. We practiced Fire and Reverse Evacuation drills today. We did many things well today. After a Hot Wash Debrief (the origin of that phrase is another good trivia training exercise), we look for ways to be even more efficient and effective.  The Great American Shakeout is our next drill. We will participate with almost 17 million people at 10:19 a.m. on 10/19/23.  This will help prepare us in case of an actual earthquake during school hours.  We drill not until we get things perfect but until we can’t fail! Wish us luck in our preparations.

Page Two of the NOTES has some items needed for our monthly food drive.  The SVDP pantry could use some of those suggested items.  Students participating in the SVDP food drive may earn a dress-out-of-uniform day on Thursday.  Please Note: we will change our food drive collection days soon. Thursdays are now All School Mass dates.

Finally, on the first page of the NOTES, it is time to begin signing up for Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, 10/26, and Friday, 10/27.  We will have a Noon dismissal on 10/26, and school will not be in session on 10/27. Each teacher’s name has a hyperlink that will take you to their Signup Genius page.  These links will be live at 3 p.m. today.
