We returned to school successfully after the Spring Break. Thank you to those who contributed to our success on either side of the Break.

Perception matters, so I want to make this point in this Friday Notes cover letter: We are forging a bright future at SSP. 

With St. Simon’s School announcing its closure at the end of the 2024-25 school year, I heard from a few parents that it reignited questions they had during the Archdiocese's “All Things New” from 2020 - 2024 about the future of Catholic Schools. I understand, and I want to put your questions to rest. 

Here are key facts to illuminate the bright future at SSP [many are also included in our 5-Year Strategic Plan Update here]:

1. The SSP Parish Leadership is planning for a bright future at SSP School and is expanding campus offerings to accommodate it. During the 23/24 school year, the SSP Parish Leadership received the power (from the Archdiocese) to determine the future of SSP School. This means SSP’s future is not decided by the Archdiocese, and other school closures have no bearing on SSP.
2. The SSP annual meeting with the Archdiocese this winter was extremely positive; the Archdiocesan representatives congratulated us on our strategic plan and good fiscal health.
3. Our Open House this year was more significant than ever! We already have 21 new students (and counting) already enrolled for next school year, and annual trends show that we will continue to increase enrollments through August. 
4. Our enrollment is growing. For specific numbers, look at our 5-year strategic plan update. Help this trend continue—getting out this positive news is important! Share this post so more families can learn about SSP.
5. The parish is vested in the survival of SSP School. We are looking to increase our footprint and invest in our curriculum to procure a school-wide new Mathematics series and a new Vocabulary text for the upcoming year.
