Come Serve With Us! By service we grow as disciples of Christ. Would you like to help us teach children about Jesus, reach our homebound with our weekend Masses, or welcome newcomers to our churches? Fill out a card to let us know, or tell us with the online survey.
Next weekend starts Holy Week; check out the schedule in the bulletin. Here’s some highlights; on Palm Sunday, April 13 we have a special procession at the 4pm Mass. The special prayers of the Triduum come on Thursday April 17 at 7pm, Friday April 18 at 7pm, and in our first celebration of Easter the night of April 19 at 8:30pm. Please consider participating in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper on Thursday April 17 in a special way, allowing me to wash your feet as a sign both of Jesus’ love for you and of Jesus’ teaching that leadership means service. To participate, please tell Debbie Gartner ([email protected]) so we can set aside a chair for you. There are opportunities for confession this week at SSP at 6pm on April 8, at IHM from 6pm to 8pm on April 10, and at SJB during Stations of the Cross at 6pm on April 11.
Finally, the closing of St. Simon Catholic School in South County is a difficult moment for that community. Please pray for them. Here’s some reasons I see a bright future ahead for our school here at SSP: enrollment is up this year, we had an unusually large open house, we are looking at expanding our school, we are investing in a new mathematics curriculum, and the Archdiocese has supported us in charting our own future. I am grateful to everyone who has rallied around our school since we began our five-year strategic plan last year. God bless you!
