PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization)

The SSP PTO supports the education of SSP students by fostering relationships among the school, parents, and teachers. We are an event-planning and fundraising organization. Our activities and special events support the needs of the school and give school parents opportunities to make new friends for life! Our strong community is part of what makes SSP so special.

SSP PTO activities happen all year long, bringing our school and parish community together.

The Backpack Blessing Mass and Ice Cream Social is a special event that gives our families a warm welcome from our Parish family and a chance to get to know one another over ice cream. It’s a great start to the school year!

During Catholic Schools Week at SSP, many parent volunteers join the fun as we treat our faculty and staff in recognition of their efforts throughout the school year and bring special programs to SSP students. At the culmination of Catholic Schools Week is a family favorite—Family Trivia! This free event brings parents and children to the Parish Center to team up for rounds of questions for all grades.

Grandparents Day at SSP is a special day for all. Grandparents and special guests are invited to attend an 8am mass followed by a reception in the Parish Hall, where light breakfast, laughter, and fun make for a great morning.

Our annual Trivia Night for adults is held on the third Saturday of October. This is the biggest PTO fundraiser of the year, packed with great competition, fun games, raffles, and energy. Grab your friends, reserve a table, and put your thinking caps on!

PTO holds a candy bar sales fundraiser in the fall to support a specific school need. These chocolates in everyone’s favorite assortments are delicious—and deliciously priced at just $1 per bar.

Dine-Out for SSP is a series of dates throughout the year, providing a common spot for our SSP community to enjoy dinner out while benefiting our school. Nights and locations are different every season. A restaurant near our neighborhood will work with us, and a portion of proceeds will go to the PTO. Look out for the flyers when the next Dine-Out for SSP takes place. What a great excuse to go out to dinner!

In November, the Holiday Boutique brings delightful shopping to the church and school. Local vendors bring their unique wares and offer delivery in time for the holidays.

Chili Cook-off is a family favorite! It gets spicy in the Parish Hall when our local chefs compete for prizes—and bragging rights—in a community vote.

Mouse Races returned to SSP in 2019. Look for a repeat in the Spring of 2020!

Uniform Closet provides school families a thrifty way to buy uniforms for their kids and an opportunity to pass down gently used uniforms to others. The Uniform Closet “opens” at different times of the year and sometimes during school events. Contact the school office for more information or to make a donation.

More than a fundraiser, Shark Shoppe offers fun and fashionable SSP gear! The quarter-zip sweatshirt and stocking cap are school favorites. Headbands, t-shirts in various styles, ribbons, blankets, and more are available. Proceeds from both the Shark Shoppe and Uniform Closet directly benefit the school.

Our fundraising efforts support valuable programs and material needs for the school, students, families, and faculty.

These include:

  • Technology & Infrastructure Enhancements
  • Catholic Schools Week Programming
  • Classroom Party Healthy Snacks
  • 8th Grade Scholarship
  • Parent-Teacher Classroom Program

The SSP PTO Executive Committee meets on the second Monday of every other month throughout the school year. All parents are invited to an open meeting in the fall.

The PTO wants to bring our parents’ good ideas to life for the benefit of the school and our children. New ideas keep our activities fresh and exciting for our kids and faculty. Bring your talents and brainpower to PTO, and let us help make new things happen!

How can you join? Every spring, the SSP PTO board seeks new members to lead available executive committee positions. All SSP parents, PreK to 8th grade, are eligible to serve on the PTO Executive Board. Look for information through school channels about opportunities to be a leader in the PTO.

We would love to have you as a volunteer! Events and activities need helpers. PTO committees need ongoing support and talents. Volunteering on a PTO committee is a great way to learn more about the organization, the people in the school community, and the events happening at the school.
